GIANT MONSTER FERRIS WHEEL IN SOUTH BANK

November 7th 2008 13:45

Vicki and I had just finished not watching a movie and found ourselves walking along one of South Bank’s parks, and it was evening and as two guys walked past us I heard one say to the other, “Yeah, sour cream actually tastes good with it.”

They completed building a Ferris wheel in South Bank this year; it’s a glowing white mammoth that stabs out into the atmosphere and everyone from the city would always point at it when night comes and say, “Shit, look at that.”

“Wow, look at that.” It was the first time for Vicki to see it. She had eye bags under her eyes. It’s exam time for her. I have to admit it was a pretty impressive sight. This huge chunk of machinery just glowing there amongst the silence of everyone else.

She nudged me. “Let’s ride it.”

“Okay.”

We hopped inside; the doors closed and we lifted up. I looked out towards the City. There are a few things I love. I loathe Brisbane but also love it with all my heart. I looked at the lights coming from the buildings, at my River in front of it; I looked down on it all from a beautiful monster machine and I thought about everything that’s happened and everything that hasn’t. There was a name somewhere inside me that had to be mentioned but I couldn’t remember what the name was. And in the distance there was a liar, a monster, a pure soul.

“I’ll miss you when you leave.” Vicki walked from her seat, sat next to me and tapped my finger with hers.

“I’ll miss you too.”

Do I understand that you're now available? What a pity I'm looking for a same age guy with very large pockets full of dough, two poor people in a relationship never works.

A rather more toned down piece, which I like, (except for the excrement used for an expletive), but you know me, the wowser.

Keep on keeping on, always eighteen.

Hahaha. I love that you keep the bagging me, but still keep coming back to read my stuff. I must be on the right track.

Dean,

There was a name somewhere inside me that had to be mentioned but I couldn’t remember what the name was. And in the distance there was a liar, a monster, a pure soul.

Moving lines.

I saw the giant eye for the first time as we drove through from the Gold Coast last week. I think it adds something special to the Riverline.
