NOBODY IS LONELY THIS CHRISTMAS - A LETTER FROM SANTA CLAUS
December 25th 2007 04:29
Nobody is lonely this Christmas. Not Bin Laden or Mr. President or the broken hearted boy or the gunner in the shopping centre. I’ll fill the world with presents and the earth will be so filled that all the wrapped boxes will tickle the moon. I’ll hand out cupcakes to the homeless, I’ll kiss the brains of fools and I’ll put clothes on all the cold. I’ll sing your carols, I’ll take your photographs and I’ll remind you to cherish every second. Christmas is a time of togetherness, of presents, of Rudolph and of laughter and of ham and alcohol. If you’re broken, if you’re sad, I’ll repair you. If you cannot afford presents, then I’ll give you the money to go to Myer or Borders or K Mart or wherever the hell you go to buy presents and buy a present. If you don’t have friends I’ll give you websites to find your friends. If you don’t have a partner I’ll give you the address and the cash and the bottle of wine. If you’ve been cheated I’ll give you your revenge. If someone has hurt you I’ll make you forget. If you don’t have any excuses I’ll give them to you. I’ll fly to Africa and steal the guns and I’ll steal the greed and the racism, I’ll fly to America and I’ll shatter the cold and fill it with warmth, I’ll fly to France and take some romance and share it with the world, I’ll fly to Australia and memorise all your names so that you know that you’re important and wanted. If you want to kill someone I’ll listen to you and hold your hand. If you want to hurt someone I’ll rewind time and raise you since birth so all that anger will fade. I will be your band aid, your cause your happy music and your reason to dance. I’m hurt, but I won’t be this Christmas. I’m alone, but I won’t be this Christmas. I’m being used, but that’s okay. Mrs. Claus is gone, but the grief will soon fade. I have elves and they’ve made me a mask and a red hat and a sleigh and my best friends are my reindeers and they know me best, they’re there. My glasses let me see that life is beautiful, my mask lets you know that there’s laughter, my money makes sure you’re okay.
